Diploma in Microelectronic Engineering
Academic Pathway
Programme Description
Microelectronics is the branch of Electronic Engineering & Semiconductor Physics that concentrates on the design & fabrication of miniaturised electronic devices. By providing the complexity of silicon chip, it has revolutionised the design & capability of electronic circuits & systems.
The microelectronic engineering is offered due to the high demand of the circuit and layout designers required in the nano-technology fields. For students who have completed the microelectronic-based programs successfully, they could expect to work within the areas related to electronic components manufacturing or assembly, sales, design, product developement, testing and servicing.
This course covers areas such as: engineering mathematics, engineering drawing, electronics and computing, basic material engineering, digital and microprocessor system, control and E-Cad, VLSI design, semiconductor fabrication and processing, introduction to business organizations and management, and projects.
